What is Mesotherapy? Mesotherapy is the practice of injecting small amounts of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, homeopathic or conventional medicines into the mesoderm (middle layer of the skin). This method of delivery allows for treatment of specific body areas with individualized nutrients and medications. For example, This technique originated in France in 1952, formulated by Dr. M. Pistor. His protégée, Dr. Jacques LeCoz is currently the foremost authority on Mesotherapy. Dr. LeCoz credentials include president of the French Society of Mesotherapy and Mesotherapist for French National Sports Teams. He trains physicians from around the world and is a prolific author. Dr. Barr trained with Dr. LeCoz and with Dr. Lajuenie, an aesthetic medicine specialist, in their clinics in France. Mesotherapy is a relatively new discipline to the Untied States so there are only a few Doctors who have gone through training; on the other hand France alone has over 15,000 trained Doctors. While there are a number of associations that claim to hold exclusive certification rights for mesotherapists, none of them holds that privilege. Dr. Pistor developed Mesotherapy as a way of treating vascular disease and controlling pain in his patients but today it has found its way into cosmetic medicine as a treatment for cellulite reduction. Mesotherapy is also widely used in sports clinics and hospitals in Europe while here in America it is used to sculpt our bodies, rid ourselves of wrinkles, and to treat hair loss as well as pain. |
